Arsenal star Bukayo Saka amazes people almost every time he plays.

The 23-year-old is undoubtedly among the best players in the world right now. He has been sensational for many years now, but he has reached a whole new level this campaign.

Saka has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 21 appearances. That’s a direct goal contribution every game, which is outrageous for a wide player.

Arsenal fans absolutely love Saka, and some big pundits are huge fans of him too.

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards amazed by Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

Irrespective of what Saka does, the Arsenal star often gets compared to other players in the Premier League.

The likes of Cole Palmer and Phil Foden’s names are mentioned in the same conversation as the Arsenal star – we think that’s laughable.

Saka does more defensive work than both of those players combined. He’s also targetted more by opposition defenders – there are sometimes three players trying to stop him.

Micah Richards and Gary Lineker have been blown away by how Saka gets past whoever is in front of him without making a big deal of it.

There’s no fancy footwork, there are no tricks or skills – just a drop of the shoulder and he’s in. Saka does this every game and the two pundits are blown away by this ability.

On the Rest is Football podcast, Richards said: “Consistent, isn’t he? How many times have you said it, Al (Shearer)? He’s so good!

“It’s hard to explain. A lot of people like Cole Palmer, they do things that are different, but Saka does the basics very well. Good energy, work rate, and he’s consistent. He’s a player, man, he’s a top, top player.”

Lineker replied: “He’s absolutely a top player. The way he goes… he just makes beating defenders look very easy. He can go both ways…”

Richards interrupted and said: “But it’s just the drop of the shoulder.”

Lineker added: “That’s all it is, they (defenders) can’t cope with him.”

Richards then claimed: “It’s not like Ronaldinho, is it? It’s not the lovely flick Cole Palmer does. It’s just that balance and the drop of the shoulder. He goes past people so easily. He’s amazing to watch!”

One Arsenal player needs to learn from Saka

Saka is proof that a player doesn’t have to have every trait in his locker to be successful.

The Englishman, a bit like Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah, keeps things simple more often than not and yet produces incredible numbers.

Arsenal have another winger who is immensely talented – Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian is arguably quicker, stronger and possesses more tricks and skills on the ball than Saka.

However, Martinelli still struggles to cause problems for defenders as much as his teammate on the opposite side does. It feels like he tries too hard at times.

We think Martinelli should look at how Saka does every time he is up against two or three defenders. That will help him reach the heights that he should.
