Arsenal take on Manchester United in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The Gunners’ dreams of winning the Premier League title have all but slipped away. They are 13 points behind Liverpool, and that feels like an impossible gap to overcome even though the Londoners have a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta will nevertheless want his side to keep pushing, and their next test is at Old Trafford against a struggling Manchester United side.

Arsenal will go into the game as the favourites, especially after their emphatic 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

But, Manchester United cannot be underestimated, even though they are going through a terrible run of results recently.

Gary Neville predicts Manchester United vs Arsenal result

Both Arsenal and Manchester United’s form in the Premier League hasn’t been great.

The Gunners have dropped points in each of their last two games in the league – a draw against Nottingham Forest and a disappointing defeat at the hands of West Ham United.

Manchester United won their last league game, but they dropped points in each of their previous three – a draw against Everton and back-to-back defeats against Tottenham and Crystal Palace.

That sets up Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford nicely as both Arsenal and United would love nothing more than a win to change their fortunes.

Arsenal will go into the game high on confidence despite their injury issues, but Gary Neville still feels that his old side will do enough to avoid defeat.

He said on the It’s Called Soccer show on The Overlap US: “United are playing so poorly at the moment, but they do sometimes lift their game against big opponents and I feel on Sunday that the crowd will be there with them.

“I think it’ll be 1-1. The scorer for United will be Bruno Fernandes.”

Arsenal’s last five Premier League results vs Manchester United

Arsenal have had a great record against teams in the traditional top six over the last few years.

The Gunners have won 11, drawn seven and lost none of their last 18 games against the big sides in the Premier League, which is a truly incredible record.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal’s recent record against Manchester United in the league has been excellent as well.

As the table shows above, Arsenal have won four of their last five games against Manchester United. They have ended up on the winning side in each of their last four meetings as well.

That, combined with the fact that Arsenal have just won 7-1 in the Champions League, makes the Gunners the favourites to pick up all three points on Sunday.

It remains to be seen how Amorim will set his side up to counter Mikel Merino starting up front.
