Gary Neville insists that Declan Rice is the Arsenal player he wants to step up the most and help the Gunners beat Manchester City.

Rice has been Arsenal’s best performer this season, and Neville thinks that he is the one Arsenal player who can step up and win his team the game.

Some think Rice is a contender to win the Ballon d’Or, and Sunday’s clash against Man City presents him with a chance to prove why.

Rice has the chance to step up and make himself a hero for the Gunners in one of the biggest Premier League games in many years.

Gary Neville urges Declan Rice to step up vs Man City

Declan Rice has been urged by Gary Neville to step up for Arsenal at the weekend when they face Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Gunners are looking to win at the Etihad for the first time since 2015, although avoiding defeat would also be a great result.

However, Arsenal and City head into the match in contrasting form, meaning someone needs to step up and lift Mikel Arteta’s team.

Neville wants that player to be Rice, who is eager to produce his Roy Keane or Steven Gerrard moment at the weekend.

“Right, hear me out. I do think Declan Rice is someone… When he went to Arsenal for £100 million, I was gutted. I think he’s a Manchester United player,” Neville told The Overlap.

“He’s the player, Harry Kane, Declan Rice, that Manchester United would have always signed back in the day. You don’t let Declan Rice go to any other club.

“To me, on Sunday, he is the player I am looking at. This is not me putting pressure on him, by the way. This is me expecting that this is the Roy Keane moment, the Gerrard moment.”

Rice had ‘no chance’ of playing against Sporting CP on Wednesday; however, he managed to push through and play 94 minutes.

The 27-year-old must now lift himself again and guide this Arsenal team to a big result this weekend in Manchester.

Arsenal are set to be without Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard again, meaning that Rice is now the main man for Mikel Arteta’s team.
