After their lethargic loss against Newcastle United, Arsenal are now in fifth place after 10 games have been played, behind both Nottingham Forest and Chelsea as well as their usual rivals.
Despite the incredibly tough fixtures Arsenal have faced, Mikel Arteta won’t be content with recent performances – he knows his side haven’t been playing like title-winners.
Losing away at St James’ Park is excusable, it could happen to Manchester City or Liverpool too, but Arsenal lost in a worrying manner, looking uncreative and lacking any real fight.
Of course, there are still 28 games to be played in the Premier League this season, and Arsenal are still fighting across all competitions.

Arsenal told they can still win Premier League after worrying Newcastle defeat
After watching Chelsea’s draw against Manchester United on Sunday, one that sent the west London side above Arsenal on goal difference, Gary Neville discussed Arteta’s title chances.
Speaking on his podcast, Neville actually thought that this run of tough results could bode well for Arsenal in the long run – the kind of bad period that could inspire a prolonged improvement.

Perhaps some Arsenal fans will be feeling otherwise based on recent displays, but Neville was confident that their title chances hadn’t diminished just yet.
Neville said: “Look, I don’t sit here right now thinking Arsenal are out of the league title, that this is them sort of if you like going back.
“I think, it might be naive, I might be sat here in three months saying I was completely wrong, this might be what this teams need to actually to be fair go on a massive run and go and win a league title.
“Because they will be looking at Liverpool and they will be looking at City and thinking, not quite perfect, they are not what they were three or four years ago. This is a big chance. What are we doing? Wake up.”
He added: “Arsenal, at this moment in time, there are big questions being asked, but I don’t rule them out of winning the title. I still have them winning the title. And this might be what they need to win the title.”
Martin Odegaard can’t return from injury soon enough
Of course, a big part of Arsenal getting their title-push back on track will be the return of their captain, Martin Odegaard.
Bukayo Saka was sorely missed during his brief absence, and it can’t be understated just how much playing without Odegaard is affecting the team too.
In their next two Premier League fixtures, either side of the international break, Arsenal face both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest – a chance to leap frog both in the table.
