‘Get him out’: Arsenal fans beg Arteta to sell ‘frustrating’ £45m star in January

Many Arsenal fans are running out of patience with Thomas Partey.

Thomas Partey is once again struggling with injury. Mikel Arteta has now stated that the Arsenal midfielder is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.

This is rapidly becoming the status quo for Partey at the Emirates Stadium. He has suffered significant injury lay offs in each of his seasons at Arsenal, since his £45 million arrival from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020. What’s more, these lay offs are now recurring with greater frequency.

So far this season, the Ghanaian has managed just four Premier League appearances, and hasn’t featured for the north London club at all since coming on from the bench late on in the win over Manchester City.

There is no denying the 30-year-old’s quality. When fully fit and in form, Partey is an elite midfield operator. However, the instances of him being fit and at his best are now infrequent enough to make him a burden on the club. The time has now come for Arteta to move on from Partey.

Plenty of Arsenal fans want to see the 47-cap Ghana international sold.

Arsenal fans call for Thomas Partey to be shown the exit

Taking to Twitter to campaign for the player’s departure, one fan said, “get him out of my club.” Another supporter expressed his dismay with Partey’s injury record, stating, “what a frustrating player! Absolutely class but made of glass.”

One fan wants the £200,000-a-week star off the books as soon as possible, saying, “time to sell hopefully it happens as soon as January.” Another fan believes Arteta made an error not offloading Partey earlier, claiming, “was saying this in the summer window. He’s unreliable and we should have cashed in.”

It will certainly be a huge source of frustration to Arteta that he has gotten such little use out of Partey so far this season. He is set for another absence in the near future, too, with the African Cup of Nations due to take place in the new year. Assuming he is fit to travel, Partey will be called up to represent his country at the tournament.

Even if the Gunners were now keen to sell the player, they may struggle to find a buyer given his fitness record and salary demands.
