Arsenal summer signing Kai Havertz initially struggled since his arrival from Chelsea, but is now in his best run of form since he joined.

The German has scored three times in his last four games, including a late winner against Brentford as well as the equaliser in the dramatic 4-3 victory over Luton Town on Tuesday.

This has been a stark improvement on his first 19 games, which saw him fail to score from open play, and he picked up heavy criticism in his initial bedding-in period.

Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva has now praised Havertz, and claimed that the 24-year-old is now continuing to improve.

Speaking to Daily Cannon, Gilberto explained why he believes Havertz has improved in recent weeks.

“Kai faced a little bit of difficulty at the beginning, but now it’s getting better for him,” Gilberto stated.

“He’s turned things around. I’m sure he’s working hard, he’s getting the confidence of Mikel and the whole team, and the whole club, which is important in the process.

“Despite the fact that he was in a Premier League club before, it’s a completely different way of playing football at Arsenal and Chelsea.

“Now, I’m sure he’s more confident. The resilience to work hard to change things around, you have to be very strong.

“Well done to him that he’s turned things around.”

The midfielder is playing with a lot more confidence, and is seemingly adapting to his attacking midfield role with more ease.

He is using his physicality upfront to occupy the opposition defence, and this led to his goal against Brentford.

His runs also proved vital in the victory over Luton, as he created space for Gabriel Jesus.

A big difference between his performances now and those before, is that he is attacking with more intensity, and is also offering more on the ball.

There is still some way to go, but there have been very promising signs in recent games, and he is beginning to flourish in front of goal in an Arsenal shirt.

Having Jesus back up front has helped, with the striker’s excellent play outside of the box proving invaluable to Havertz’s form, and he assisted two of his three strikes.

It is unclear if Havertz will start at Villa Park. Whilst Arteta may look to capitalise on his good form, he may be tempted to use a more defensive option in Jorginho in what promises to be a tough game.
