Arsenal had an unprecedented summer transfer window, but there is always room for improvement.
Andrea Berta spent over £250 million on eight new signings, and those deals have helped Mikel Arteta’s side climb up to the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal aren’t expected to do anything in January, but every top club in the world steps up when an opportunity presents itself.
Gunners legend Gilberto Silva has now suggested one player for his old side – Rodrygo.
Gilberto Silva backs Arsenal to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid
Rodrygo was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The Brazil international has been a key player for Real Madrid over the years, but new Galacticos boss Xabi Alonso doesn’t seem to be a big fan of him.
Since the start of this season, Rodrygo has played just over 450 minutes of football in all competitions. He has started only three games and is clearly out of favour.
Arsenal Insider exclusively revealed recently that Rodrygo is back on Arsenal’s radar, and Gilberto has now backed the Gunners to bring him in.
He told talkSPORT: “I know him and we’ve met a couple of times, but I don’t know his situation with Arsenal. At the beginning of the season, I thought it would be fantastic to have Rodrygo at the club.
“It is clear he will not have much of an opportunity to play under Xabi Alonso at Madrid, but he’s a great player with real talent, which is a waste if he is on the bench – but obviously there is big competition at Arsenal as well.
“He’s got the ability to perform not only from the left side but in other positions across the forward line as well.
“Should Arsenal go in for him? Why not? If he’s not happy and there is an opportunity to increase the strength of the squad, then we can try and get him.
“The only question is, where would he fit? Maybe a few years ago, it would have been much easier to find a good player to fit that Arsenal squad. However, nowadays, even if you are a good player, it’s not so easy to find a starting place in this current team.”

Arsenal should not even consider signing Rodrygo – here’s why
In the summer, Rodrygo would’ve been a statement signing for Arsenal.
The Gunners needed a new wide player, and signing someone like Rodrygo, who Jude Bellingham thinks is more talented than Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and every other Real Madrid player, would’ve been great.
However, Arsenal landed Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze in the summer, and they’ve both been good. Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have all delivered this season as well.
Furthermore, Rodrygo will cost a fortune in transfer fees and wages, and there is no guarantee that he will start at Arsenal.
For those reasons, the Premier League leaders shouldn’t even think about making a move for Rodrygo in January.
