Manchester United legend Roy Keane has heaped praise on one Arsenal player for his performance against Wolves on Sunday.
The Gunners were woeful and deserved to lose yet again. That’s now three consecutive league defeats at home, and Mikel Arteta should be feeling the pressure.
All of our players received a ton of stick for their performance. Our build-up play was slow and predictable, we lacked quality in the final third and the few chances we had, we missed.
However, one player caught many people’s eye. Gabriel Magalhaes was once again our best player, and his goal made the score look a lot more respectable than it should have been.
Keane: Brilliant, brilliant header by Gabriel
Keane had some nice words to say about the Brazilian’s goal. He lauded Gabriel’s determination to beat all the players around him to slot the ball into the back of the net.
He said on Sky Sports during their coverage of the game: “This is a great delivery. We’re talking about putting balls into the right areas and wanting to head the ball.”
“This is a brilliant, brilliant header. Gabriel has wanted it more. He’s against four players. People are pulling his jersey, but he has shown great determination.”
Gabriel was surrounded by a number of Wolves defenders. It was a very difficult chance, but the former Lille man made it look easy and gave Arsenal a chance that we couldn’t take in the end.
The Brazilian has certainly been Arsenal’s best player this season. We would have been in a lot more trouble without him, and Arteta will surely be glad that he beat all the competition for his signature in the summer.
