Arsenal legend David Seaman has delivered his ‘honest’ verdict on his former club’s chances of winning the newly formed European Super League.

The football world has gone into a frenzy since 12 big European clubs announced their participation last night.

Arsenal have been joined by the rest of England’s traditional top-six, while the big-three from Spain and Italy have also come in as the founding members.

The Super League will bring over three times as much money as a club would usually earn by playing in the Champions League. That, sadly, is the reason behind the clubs’ decision to move ahead with the new competition, much to the anger of fans.

Seaman had his say about the announcement today. He, like many of us isn’t a happy man, and if his opinion is anything to go by, Arsenal’s chances of winning the competition are ‘very, very slim’.

He told Sky Sports (Monday, 12:40 pm): “If I am honest, if Arsenal go into that league, what’s the chances winning that league? Very, very slim, if I am honest.”

The Insider’s View:

Well, we don’t need a rocket scientist to tell us that Arsenal are not the strongest team in the competition.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus will be the favourites every season, and that will not change unless Arsenal use the money we get from the competition to sign some of the best players in the world.

The chances of Arsenal winning the competition, as Seaman said, are very slim, but at least we’ll have Tottenham to laugh at season after season because – well, they’re Tottenham.
