Arsenal star Reiss Nelson’s minutes-per-goal statistic looks outrageous

Reiss Nelson has been the definition of a super-sub for Arsenal this season.

The Englishman’s first appearance in the Premier League this term came against Nottingham Forest after Bukayo Saka hobbled off the pitch due to an injury.

Nobody really expected much, but Nelson scored twice and picked up an assist in 63 minutes of action.

Against Bournemouth last weekend, the 23-year-old was on the pitch for just 21 minutes (Transfermarkt), and he managed to pick up an assist and score a goal in that time.

That takes his tally up to three goals and two assists in just 85 minutes of football in the Premier League this term. That is an outrageous return.

He averages a goal every 29 minutes and a direct goal contribution every 17 minutes.

How that compares to Europe’s biggest stars

Yes, Nelson’s small sample size makes his numbers stand out compared to players who play every game, but it is still fun to compare it with the biggest names in the sport, especially if you’re a Gooner.

Erling Haaland, the Premier League’s most feared striker, averages a goal every 76 minutes in the competition, which really is a frightening record considering that he has played over 2000 minutes.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane averages a goal every 130 minutes, while Liverpool superstar Mo Salah boasts one every 200 minutes. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, on the other hand, scores one in the Ligue 1 every 97 minutes.

If you’re an Arsenal fan like we are, we’re sure you’ll enjoy Nelson’s name being above all of the superstars mentioned above.
