Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly has been tipped to have a big future at the club.
Hale End academy ace Myles Lewis-Skelly is highly thought of at Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta has named the versatile young midfielder on the bench on a number of occasions. He was recently amongst the substitutes during the Gunners’ 6-0 demolition of French outfit Lens in a Champions League group stage clash.
However, the 17-year-old did not make it onto the pitch on that occasion, despite the north London club’s commanding lead. Arteta’s decision not to hand Lewis-Skelly his debut then certainly frustrated plenty of Arsenal fans.
Those supporters will have to wait yet longer to see Lewis-Skelly get his first taste of senior football action, though. Whilst fellow academy starlets Reuell Walters, Ethan Nwaneri, and Lino Sousa have all been taken to the Netherlands for Tuesday’s face-off with PSV Eindhoven, Lewis-Skelly was left at home.
Arteta is likely to rotate his starting XI heavily for this match with PSV. It is the final group stage fixture, and Arsenal have already qualified for the knockout rounds as group winners. As such, there is very little riding on this game for the English side, making it the perfect opportunity to give young prospects a chance to strut their stuff on the big stage.

What Arsenal really think of Myles Lewis-Skelly
Having made the bench against Lens, Lewis-Skelly will surely be gutted to be missing out on this opportunity.
However, the club certainly still foresee a big future for the England under-18 international at the Emirates Stadium. He is a player with vast potential who has already impressed under-18s coach Jack Wilshere, who has heaped praise on Lewis-Skelly in the past, highlighting his ability to take responsibility and make an impact at both ends of the pitch.
According to a report in The Telegraph, Arsenal expect Lewis-Skelly to go on to achieve big things at the club and feel that his time to feature for the first team is fast approaching. Along with Nwaneri, he is considered perhaps the most exciting prospect in the academy setup.
Whilst Lewis-Skelly will undoubtedly wish that he had been selected to make the trip to face PSV, he should take heart from the high regard that the Gunners clearly hold him in. Hopefully, the Arsenal fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see the teenager in action.
