Arsenal youngster Mika Biereth has been making headlines this season for his sensational form whilst out on loan at Motherwell.
His loan was recently ended by Arsenal despite him notching up 11 goals and assists in 11 starts in the Scottish top-flight, and amidst interest from several clubs, he has now joined Austrian side Sturm Graz for the rest of the season.
Biereth has been a clinical striker in his time at Arsenal’s Academy, and has successfully translated his scoring form into the senior level.
However, he has now admitted that breaking into the Arsenal side is a very difficult task, despite his loan form, and highlighted one problem for academy stars aiming to reach the first team.
Mika Biereth highlights issue facing Arsenal youngsters
Speaking to The Athletic, the 20-year-old admitted that it would be his dream to play for Arsenal, but claimed that the club’s ability to sign star strikers will limit any opportunities he may get.
“It would be any striker’s dream to play for Arsenal in terms of the quality they play with and the chances they get,” he stated.
“The one positive for Arsenal is they can go into the market and buy someone for £100million if they want to. It’s probably not the biggest positive for academy players because it’s really tough to get in there, but hopefully my performances keep improving and that can be me one day.
“I’m just doing what I can to put myself in the best position.”
Can Arsenal’s youngsters break into the first team?

Arsenal’s best player right now is arguably Bukayo Saka, who graduated from Hale End, so the pathway is not impossible for Arsenal’s brightest talents, but it is difficult.
Even someone as talented as Emile Smith Rowe cannot gain any game time, and may even head out on loan. The likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Reuell Walters are knocking on the door, and Mikel Arteta recently earned criticism for not using them in a Champions League dead rubber tie.
Folarin Balogun was Biereth’s teammate at youth level, and despite an outstanding loan spell at Reims in Ligue 1 last season, he was sold this summer to generate pure FFP profit.
The reality for Biereth is that even if he performs superbly on loan this season, Arsenal will likely try to sign a big-name in the summer, with Victor Osimhen linked, and his chances of breaking into the team next summer are very slim.
