Arsenal midfielder Jorginho achieved a milestone in Saturday’s victory over Bournemouth, as his substitute appearance made him the fifth-highest appearance-maker amongst Italian players in Premier League history.
Jorginho joined Arsenal in February after four and a half years at Chelsea, in which he won the Champions League, and has now overtaken former Chelsea and Spurs goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini in the ranking amongst Italian players.
His appearance against Bournemouth was his 19th in the League for Arsenal, and his 162nd overall.
Jorginho’s message following his achievement
The 31-year-old was clearly delighted at joining the esteemed list, and took to his Instagram account to express his joy at reaching the milestone.
“Happy to be part of the top-5 of Italian players with the most Premier League appearances. Come on you Gunners!” He posted.
The midfielder is now only behind West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna, Benito Carbone, Paolo Di Canio and Gianfranco Zola in the list, and in terms of Arsenal players, he is one of just three to feature for the club in the Premier League, alongside Arturo Lupoli and Vito Mannone.
Jorginho’s usefulness

Whilst he is not a starter, with Declan Rice and Thomas Partey ahead of him in the pecking order, Jorginho has his uses as a substitute and a backup.
He was one of the best players on the pitch as he started in the League Cup victory over Brentford last week, and his substitute appearance against Crystal Palace earlier in the season proved vital in securing a narrow victory.
Jorginho did make a poor error in the North London derby, leading to a Spurs equaliser, but overall has been a good acquisition for Arsenal both on and off the pitch.
The Italian is out of contract at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether he will be kept on beyond the summer or if both sides will look to move on.
