After not being convinced by Saudi Arabian approaches, Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe has decided his priority is to join Trabzonspor.

That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano who shared the update on X.

Romano shared that negotiations will now follow for Pepe to make his move to Turkey.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

He also confirmed that Arsenal are happy to give their approval to the transfer.

Romano said: “Nicolas Pépé, not convinced by Saudi approaches — deal not happening, his priority is now to join Trabzonspor.

“Negotiations to follow in order to reach an agreement, as Foot Mercato called; he’s completely out of Arsenal project.

“Arsenal prepared to give the green light.”

This seems like a significant step in Nicolas Pepe finally leaving Arsenal.

The £72m winger’s fall from grace in North London has been well documented over the years.

And despite being full of talent, Pepe has never been able to establish himself at Arsenal during the Mikel Arteta era.

Still only 28-years-old, Arsenal fans will surely protest that Pepe could be a huge success in Turkey with Trabzonspor.

Pepe has decided he wants to join Trabzonspor when he leaves Arsenal

There had been some discussion among Arsenal fans of whether there was a possibility to reintroduce Pepe this year.

The club is now a lot more settled than when Pepe arrived, a pretty chaotic era under Unai Emery.

And Pepe may now have been able to thrive in an Arsenal side that is enjoying a lot more control of games.

However, the reality of the situation saw the winger get no further chances to prove his case at the club.

Instead, Arsenal’s Pepe now has his sights set on a permanent move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Arsenal fans will no doubt wish Pepe well as he forges a new chapter in his career.

It would be harsh to describe his time at Arsenal as a failure, rather a fit that did not stand the test of time.
