Arsenal had a busy summer transfer window, with plenty of stars coming into the club, but a fair few leaving as well.

One of those to leave the Emirates Stadium on a permanent deal was Albert Sambi Lokonga, who joined Hamburg in the Bundesliga.

The midfielder was unable to make an impact at Arsenal, but so far, he is finding a way to help his new side settle back into top-flight football.

Albert Sambi Lokonga’s start at Hamburg since Arsenal exit

Albert Sambi Lokonga was tipped for big things at Arsenal, but he ultimately failed to reach the heights.

Injuries were a key problem for the midfielder, while several loan spells away from the club saw glimpses of quality, but not enough to get him back into the team under Mikel Arteta.

Upon his return this summer, Sambi Lokonga made the move to Hamburg, where he has had an impact early on.

The 26-year-old has played every Bundesliga game since his debut, which came in a 2-1 win over Heidenheim.

The Belgian international has scored twice for his side, while his availability has helped Hamburg towards nine points from their opening ten games, leaving them four points clear of the bottom two.

Sofascore have rated Sambi Lokonga well so far, with four appearances rated above a 7.0, including an 8.2 out of ten against RB Leipzig.

The latest display saw Hamburg rescue a late draw against Borussia Dortmund, helping the side pick up another key point.

How Albert Sambi Lokonga performed against Borussia Dortmund

Albert Sambi Lokonga was one of the key players for Hamburg in their draw against Borussia Dortmund.

He had to feature in the midfield without his teammate Fabio Vieira, who picked up a red card in the previous encounter.

While the Arsenal loanee missed out, Sambi Lokonga featured and landed an impressive four out of five rating for BILD’s ratings.

The report simply said: “Less conspicuous than usual, but still mostly solid.”

While the midfielder is staying fit and available, he is able to have the sort of impact on games he would’ve hoped for.

Now he needs to keep that up with a side who are looking to survive and then push on in the Bundesliga, then he can show his true quality.
