How Chelsea really feel about signing Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri

Ethan Nwaneri returns to Arsenal this year after an up and down loan spell away from the club and there remains some doubt over his long-term future.

Nwaneri burst onto the scene the season before last but went quiet before being sent out on loan to Marseille.

However, his spell in France didn’t go brilliantly after Roberto De Zerbi moved on and there has been talk of interest in Nwaneri from clubs like Man City and Chelsea.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will be hoping to keep Nwaneri – unless they get huge money – and now the Daily Mail has shared how Chelsea in particular feel about the Gunners teenager.

Chelsea’s current view on signing Ethan Nwaneri

It would be a shame to see Nwaneri moved on so quickly but there is also the money side of things for Arsenal to keep in mind.

Any sort of fee they get for Nwaneri counts as pure profit and with the emergence of Max Dowman as well, it remains to be seen if Nwaneri will play a part next term.

However, when it comes to Chelsea’s interest, the Daily Mail is reporting that the Blues don’t actually plan on making a move anytime soon.

Along with Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall, Nwaneri is apparently on Chelsea’s list of potential signings.

But according to The Mail, Chelsea don’t plan on signing any of those players this summer as it stands.

For Arsenal, of course, this will be good news and gives them a chance to manage the destiny and immediate future of Nwaneri in their own way.

Quite what Mikel Arteta will do with the teenager, remains to be seen. If it is to be another loan, then this time around it has to be somewhere where he can have a true impact.

If not, we are at risk of wasting these early years of Nwaneri’s development and sometimes, that can send a player down a slippery path.
