Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has heaped praise on Ethan Nwaneri for the impact he has made at the club since coming through the academy, tipping him for big things in the future.

The 17-year-old has been in the spotlight for most of his young career so far, having been the youngest-ever player to play for Arsenal when he made his debut at 15.

Fast forward a few years and Ethan Nwaneri is starting to live up to his early promise, making an immediate impact this season following injury to Bukayo Saka.

The Hale End academy graduate has a bit of a trademark when it comes to cutting in on his left foot and curling an effort in, but he has the ability to switch up too.

With plenty more promise for the future, Arsenal teammate Jurrien Timber has praised the youngster for his impact ahead of the Champions League tie with PSV Eindhoven.

Jurrien Timber praises Ethan Nwaneri impact for Arsenal

One partnership that is starting to develop is on the right flank as Nwaneri and Timber play more games with each other.

The dynamic is starting to evolve as the pair get used to what each other will do, allowing them to play to their strengths.

It could develop into a deadly partnership in the near future, with Timber already revealing the impact Nwaneri has had.

He told the press ahead of the Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven: “I think its amazing to see [Nwaneri’s progression], amazing to be a part of.

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him and hopefully tomorrow he can show a little bit of magic.”

While it’s unclear exactly what the ceiling may be for a player of Nwaneri’s raw talent, it’s clear that Arsenal will be keen to hone it in the future.

Ethan Nwaneri could unlock new Arsenal partnerships

If there’s one thing that Arsenal have struggled with this season, it’s scoring goals, with plenty of the burden now placed on Nwaneri to find some magic when the side have struggled.

It displays the quality of the youngster, that he is just 17 years old and is capable of dragging the side through, but it also perhaps shows some of the pitfalls in recruitment that he is depended on so early into his career.

Fortunately, with players coming back from injury, Nwaneri may fit into a role where less is relied upon, giving him more freedom to play at his best.

On top of that is a chance for some new partnerships across the team, depending on where and who he plays with.

For example, Ben White’s injury return means he could form a partnership on the right flank as well as with Timber.

Nwaneri’s ability means he could also feature as a striker, a left-winger or an attacking midfielder if so required.

It’s unclear which position may be his going forward, but there is plenty of ability there and some chances to unlock players across the whole pitch.
