Iker Casillas says player who cost Arsenal just £11m was better than Kaka

Spain goalkeeping legend Iker Casillas has ranked a player who cost Arsenal just £11million higher than the likes of Kaka and Gareth Bale.

As one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Arsenal have had umpteen legends on their books over the decades.

Arsenal fans who were around in the 1990s and 2000s were spoilt for choice when it came to absolutely brilliant players.

And Iker Casillas has ranked one of the Gunners’ top icons pretty high in a top ten of the best attackers.

Iker Casillas deems Thierry Henry the third-best attacker of the modern era

Thierry Henry is the best Arsenal player of all time – as per the club themselves – thanks to his heroics for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Shoot For Love have posted a video of Casillas blind ranking 10 different attackers, and Henry got the nod in third place.

Only Ronaldinho and Franck Ribery finished above Henry, the Brazilian getting top spot and the French ace landing in second place.

Clarence Seedorf, Didier Drogba, Kaka, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale and Ji-sung Park finished below the Highbury superstar.

How Viktor Gyokeres can follow in Thierry Henry’s footsteps

Gyokeres hasn’t exactly had a flying start to his Arsenal career, but he’s certainly had a better start than Henry did at Highbury.

The Sweden international has two Premier League goals to his name already, while Henry did not even score until nine games into his time at Arsenal.

Even the Arsenal website acknowledged that, when Henry came off the bench for his debut against Leicester City, he ‘threatened the North Bank regulars with his scattergun shooting’.

The £11million man eventually scored a brace against Derby County, and the rest is history.

Gyokeres will hope for a bright international break, after which the season gets into full swing – until the October break anyway – and he will look to kick on.
