Mikel Arteta’s team have moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League after producing a scintillating display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But once again, Eze was the star of the show, making it five goals in two games against Spurs, and his manager was full of praise for him afterwards.

Mikel Arteta is ready to finally unlock Eberechi Eze at Arsenal

Arteta thinks Eberechi Eze was so angry at him before the game for dropping him against Wolves, but the Spaniard thinks this could be the way to unlock him at Arsenal.

The 27-year-old looked like a player with a serious point to prove, and that he did with a brace against the club he nearly joined last summer.

After the match, Arteta told the media: “I could see that he wanted to prove something. He was upset, even with me, because I didn’t play him the other day. I’m starting to understand how to get the best out of him now.”

Who was your Arsenal Man of the Match vs Tottenham Hotspur?

Eze is the second player to score five goals in the North London derby in a single campaign, and the first since the 1934/35 season.

It’s clear that he plays with great confidence against the Lilywhites, but now he must do it more consistently for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott was delighted to see Eze finally get back on the scoresheet, telling Sky Sports: “You could see how much it meant to him, but not just him, his teammates too.

“I think it’s really important, away from the football, to show how important he is in that role. I was so pleased for him.”
