Arsenal really missed Martin Odegaard against Newcastle United.
The Gunners suffered their second consecutive away defeat in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. Alexander Isak’s first-half goal was enough for the hosts to seal the game.
Arsenal looked toothless in attack. They failed to create more than one meaningful chance in the entire game, and that cost them.
Every supporter who watched the game felt that Arsenal missed Odegaard, and they are all right.
When Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is set to return from his injury
Odegaard is one of Arsenal’s best players.
The Norwegian is the club captain and has been integral to the way the Gunners play since he joined the club from Real Madrid in 2021.
Arsenal fans were expecting a big season from Odegaard, but after just three appearances this term, the midfielder suffered a serious ankle injury.
Odegaard has been out of action since, and Arsenal have struggled to create chances in the final third without their skipper.
After the game against Newcastle United, Martin Keown revealed some excellent news for Arsenal fans on TNT Sports.
The Gunners legend said: “I’m told Odegaard will be back for Wednesday!”
Arsenal take on Inter Milan in the Champions League in what will be another very difficult away game. If Odegaard is back for that game, the Gunners’ chances of victory will go up significantly.

Mikel Arteta has made mistakes during Odegaard’s absence
Odegaard has been a massive miss for Arsenal, and Arteta has made several mistakes that have cost his side over the last few months.
Firstly, the Gunners boss went into the season without a proper backup for his skipper – Fabio Vieira was loaned out and Emile Smith Rowe was sold.
Then, once Odegaard got injured, Arteta decided that Trossard would be the man to replace him more often than not, and that hasn’t always worked.
Ethan Nwaneri would’ve been a better choice in many games, including the one against Newcastle today, but the teenager is yet to start a game in the Premier League.
Odegaard’s return is now a huge boost, but mistakes over the last two months may have already done the damage in the title race.
