Jayden Nelson says his dream is to join Arsenal
Arsenal are not just a massive club in England and Europe; they are huge across the globe.
The Gunners have a big fan base in Asia, South America and even North America, where several young players dream of donning the famous red and white one day.
One such player is Jayden Nelson.
The 22-year-old is a Canada international who currently plays in the MLS for the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Previously a part of Rosenborg and SSV Ulm, Nelson returned to Canada earlier this year and has directly contributed to 11 goals so far.
Even though he has a contract until 2028, with an option for another year, Nelson has made it clear that he intends to return to Europe, and his dream club is Arsenal.
He told GiveMeSport: “100 per cent, my goal is to return to Europe again. That’s my dream, even though right now I am really happy at the Whitecaps.
“I would love to play in the Premier League one day. Arsenal are my team, and if I got to sign for them one day, it would be amazing.
“Back in the day, I loved Thierry Henry, and now, I am a fan of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Max Dowman is a phenomenal talent as well. There is a lot of quality in the Arsenal midfield.”
Jayden Nelson has already ‘defied the odds’ in his life
Nelson is a popular name among Canadian football fans now, and he was even hailed as ‘incredible’ by former Everton star Kevin Kilbane (TSN).
However, the 22-year-old went through a lot of difficulties with his health when he was a kid. He was diagnosed with a rare cancer and was told he would never be able to become a professional footballer.
But he overcame everything and is all set to represent Canada in the World Cup next year.
“I was only 18 months when I was diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer,” he said.
“I initially went into remission, but then it came back and spread to my lungs. I could have died, and the doctor said there was almost no chance I could be a professional footballer or live a particularly active lifestyle.
“But I defied the odds.”
