Ousmane Dembele suffered an injury scare during Paris Saint-Germain’s final Ligue 1 match ahead of the Champions League final.
Dembele was forced off as a precaution during PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Paris FC, and now the French champions will need to monitor him over the next fortnight.
😬 Which PSG player worries you the most for the Champions League final?
After the match, the French media claimed Dembele suffered a ‘muscle strain’ which could be slightly more serious than just a precaution.
Now, the defending European champions will be sweating over the 29-year-old’s fitness ahead of the final on May 30.
Ousmane Dembele is expected to be ready to face Arsenal
Ousmane Dembele is expected to be ready for the Champions League final in two weeks, according to Serhan Segitmen from Physio Scout.
The French international is reported to have suffered a muscle strain in his calf, and this will need to be closely monitored ahead of the final in Budapest.
Segitmen told Physio Scout: “So Champions League final, PSG versus Arsenal. Obviously, Ousmane Dembele felt a little bit of a niggle and had to walk off. Again, at this time of the season, everyone does get quite scared in terms of the severity of the injury.
“However, it is still 2 weeks away or less than. But from what we hear in the French media, it looks like it’s just discomfort in his calf or discomfort in any sort of muscle.
🙏 Which Arsenal player would you most like to see score the winning goal in the UCL final?
“This can get lost in translation sometimes. The French media say that he’s suffered a simple muscle strain, which is actually a little bit worse than more discomfort.
“So, we’re still looking at a precautionary measure, and I think they’ll do everything they can to get him ready for the Champions League final. So, in two weeks or less, I think he’ll be ready.”
Jurrien Timber injury update ahead of Burnley
Arsenal have injury concerns of their own, with Jurrien Timber pushing to be fit for the final
Timber was pictured arriving for training over the weekend ahead of facing Burnley, and he has been tipped to play a part towards the end of the match by Jared Winston
Winston added: “We spoke on Calafiori last week that, you know, there’s a strong chance that that was more of a tactical sub versus a true injury. Maybe he had some minor tightness, but I would be shocked if he didn’t play (vs Burnley).
“Timber, good to see him back in training, like I said, for Arsenal, but also for the World Cup. I doubt he’ll start (vs Burnley), but hopefully if he’s back in training, maybe a 10 to 15 minute cameo at the end of the game.”
The Dutch defender could be key towards stopping Dembele if he is fit, but also Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on PSG’s left side.
