Arsenal are set to welcome heated rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a highly anticipated North London Derby.
The Gunners have an incredible record against their bitter rivals at home, having lost just one league derby against Spurs since the Emirates was opened in 2006.
Both sides are currently unbeaten, with both enjoying strong starts to the season, and it is set to be a mouthwatering clash on Sunday.
In quotes via Sky Sports, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has now emphasised the importance of the rivalry, and claimed that he was looking forward to the atmosphere during what usually becomes a fairly hostile affair.
“I think sometimes it’s important just to embrace where you are, and just enjoy the moment and I think Sunday definitely, I’m looking forward to doing that, because when we play in the North London Derby, it’s an atmosphere that’s so special and unique and you can’t really compare it to anything else,” he stated.
“It’s an atmosphere that you don’t see week to week, but it’s also an atmosphere that gives us an extra boost, and I’m looking forward to having that on Sunday, and I’m really confident.
“We know every time we play at the Emirates, that the fans are gonna give us that extra boost to help us get the three points, and I’m really sure that they will do the same.”
Arsenal’s home derby record
Arsenal are looking to make it four home victories in a row against Spurs under Mikel Arteta, having last dropped points in this fixture in a 2-2 draw in September 2019.
Whilst there may be some nerves among the players and fans, they can take comfort in knowing that Tottenham’s only league victory at the Emirates came in November 2010, in a shock 3-2 loss.
Saka scored in this fixture two seasons, ago, and the 22-year-old will be hoping to get on the scoresheet again as Arsenal look to make a major statement against their rivals.
