Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle heaped praise on Arsenal star Dani Ceballos’ brilliant assist to Alexandre Lacazette against Sheffield United on Sunday.
The Gunners took the lead through the Frenchman with a goal that Arsene Wenger would have been proud of. It was a typical Arsenal goal that involved multiple first-time passes, a delightful flick by Ceballos into Lacazette’s path and a glorious finish.
Ceballos had a really solid game. He has had a difficult time recently, but he thrived on Sunday in a slightly different role on the left side of central midfield.
The Spaniard’s assist to Lacazette’s opener has received a ton of praise from Arsenal supporters. Hoddle, a Spurs man, was blown away by Ceballos’ brilliant piece of skill too.
He said on Matchday Live on Optus Sport: “This goal is lovely one and two touch football. They were on top no doubt, but they needed a chance and they got it.
“It was a wonderful move and what a flick by Ceballos. That’s great skill to open the defence up like that, it’s truly fabulous.”
The Insider’s View:
Ceballos really needed that performance for his confidence.
The Spaniard was heavily criticised by fans, pundits and the media for his two mistakes against Olympiacos last month. That almost cost us the game, but Arsenal turned it around. However, it shattered Ceballos’ confidence.
He was dropped to the bench for our games against Tottenham and West Ham, and only featured for two minutes against Slavia Prague last week.
Sunday’s display would’ve boosted his confidence. His assist really was fantastic, and hopefully, he can use that to kick on and finish the campaign in a really strong way – just like he did last season to help us win the FA Cup.
