Arsenal have been in a funk as of late, their form hasn’t been absolutely awful, but something isn’t clicking.
They’ve not scored more than one goal in a game since March, and their attack seems blunt.
Martin Odegaard has faced criticism at times this season, particularly throughout this recent run but Jack Wilshere has a different view of the player.
Indeed, speaking to TalkSPORT, Wilshere has noted just how important he believes Odegaard to be to this Arsenal team.
If Arsenal were to sell Martin Odegaard how much money would you want for him?
Jack Wilshere hails Martin Odegaard
“What I would say is with Arsenal, I think Odegaard is key. You know, he’s a player who takes risks. He’s a player who even out of possession sets everything.”
“And I think he’s had a few injuries this season, maybe lost a bit of form at times, but yeah, when Martin’s playing, that is a different team.”
“It’s a different team and they look braver.”
Wilshere’s comments on Odegaard would have rung true a while ago, but, right now, it’s hard to agree with the Luton manager.
Indeed, Odegaard hasn’t really stepped up in recent weeks, and, more often than not, it’s been Eberechi Eze who has provided that little moment of brilliance, or ‘bravery’ as Wilshere has said.
That isn’t to say that Odegaard hasn’t played well, he looked incredibly sharp against Manchester City lately, but he’s not at his very best.
Once upon a time, Odegaard was the most frightening creative force in the Premier League, but he’s had an underwhelming return of just five assists this season.
Arsenal can be a very different team when Odegaard plays, but, only when he’s at his best.
Fingers crossed the £30m man can rediscover his top form soon and get Arsenal motoring again as we approach the finish line in the Premier League.
