Jack Wilshere is very much cutting his cloth as a manager with Luton Town but he’s still keeping a close eye on what happens at Arsenal.
Wilshere had a great career with the Gunners that was sadly cut short by injury and has played his part in developing the young players at London Colney after a spell managing the academy.
Of course, that means Wilshere is more than aware of the talents of both Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman.
And according to Wilshere himself, he’d happily take either on loan if it were possible.

Is this a necessary commercial move? Or is it pure greed?
Jack Wilshere praises Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Wilshere spoke highly of both Nwaneri and Dowman and admitted they both have a big chance next season.
“I think they’re two different situations really. Ethan’s a little bit older and he’s had more moments in the first-team than Max. Max is still trying to find his way in there, I don’t think he’s started a Premier League game and he’s still in that position of coming in and making a difference off the bench,” Wilshere said.
“I’ve never seen anything like him when we had him in the under-18s. The ability to change a game and produce match-winning moments, unbelievable.
“Ethan will have learnt so much. Real football, even the Marseille fans, the emotion of them it’s real isn’t it so he’ll have taken so much from that.”
Asked if he’d take one of Dowman or Nwaneri on loan, Wilshere admitted he’s not fussy.
“The answer to that is yes! Whoever Mikel don’t want, I’d call and ask him,” Wilshere added.
“I’ve got good contacts and relationships with the coaching staff there and the loans manager because I was obviously working in the academy there. So I’m always keeping in touch and looking at who might be available.”
Arsenal facing tough calls on Nwaneri and Dowman futures
As touched on above, the loan move to Marseille might not have gone exactly how Nwaneri had planned it but it will provide him with valuable experience about life as a pro footballer.
As for Dowman, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta could be faced with a tough decision next season.

On one hand, Dowman is already in the first-team and has proven already he is a valuable player who can change games.
However, is also yet to even turn 18, so if there is a good loan move available for him somewhere, then it’s something Arsenal might need to consider for his future development.
Either way, the Gunners have two of Europe’s top teenagers in Nwaneri and Dowman and there’s every right to be excited about the next few years.
