Jack Wilshere thinks it is unbelievable that Max Dowman is getting so many opportunities at Arsenal, aged just 16.

Dowman is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and is quickly becoming a key player for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Recently, Dowman scored his first Premier League goal against Everton and then backed it up with another fine performance against Southampton.

Arteta is carefully managing his minutes at the Emirates Stadium right now, but his performances are making it harder and harder for the boss to overlook him.

Wilshere is amazed at the amount of chances he is getting with the North London club right now, especially considering his age.

Jack Wilshere says it’s amazing that Max Dowman is already a key player for a team challenging for the Premier League and Champions League.

After finally returning from an ankle injury, Dowman has really worked his way into Arteta’s thinking over recent weeks, appearing in four of the last seven Arsenal matches.

Most recently, Dowman looked like Arsenal’s best player against Southampton, which is quite a remarkable feat for a 16-year-old.

Speaking to CBS Sports about him, Wilshere said: “I don’t think there’s any doubt about his ability with the ball. Everything you can do with the ball.

How closely do you think Max Dowman will follow in Lamine Yamal’s footsteps?

“But to get the trust of a manager at a top club that are fighting for everything well, the Champions League now and the Premier League trophy, and he’s getting opportunities as a 16-year-old… I think it’s a big step for him.

“Yeah, top player with an exciting future and in good hands as well with Mikel and his coaching staff.

“They understand that when players come from the academy, they’re not necessarily finished products, and their job is to finish them and keep developing them. And they’re doing a really good job of that.”

There have been many calls for the teenager to start more often for the Gunners, but it seems as though Arteta will only ease him into the first team for now.
