Arsenal’s under 18 side took on Fulham at Motspur Park looking to seal their place in the FA Youth Cup quarter final.
Remarkably, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are still eligible to play in the competition this year but are obviously involved in Arsenal first team duty.
The young Gunners showed great character to hold on to a 2-1 victory after Fulham pulled a goal just before half time to make it a nervy end to the tie.
Max Dowman starred in the previous FA Youth Cup round and had another eventful evening, scoring Arsenal’s second before missing a second half penalty.
After the game, former Arsenal academy coach Jack Wilshere took to his Instagram to send a message to the courageous young stars.

Jack Wilshere congratulates Arsenal Under 18 side following FA Youth Cup victory
After the 2-1 victory, former Arsenal Under 18s manager Wilshere took to his Instagram account to send a congratulatory message to current manager Adam Birchall.
Birchall took over from Wilshere in October 2024, following a two year spell from the former England midfielder in charge.
Wilshere managed 60 games for the Under 18 side following his appointment in July 2022 and had a decent record amassing 1.62 points per game, whilst developing talents such as Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly.
Jack Wilshere’s coaching career is progressing at Norwich
Wilshere as a player was plagued by injuries and could have been one of the world’s best had it not been for an ankle injury. He played 197 times for Arsenal, contributing 14 goals and 27 assists.
Wilshere left Arsenal for Norwich to develop his coaching career back in October 2024 and the former Gunners midfielder has helped guide the club to be in with a chance of the play-offs.

His intelligence as a player makes Wilshere a promising candidate to transfer that into the coaching world and had a fantastic relationship with his player whilst coaching at Arsenal.
It will be interesting to see how his coaching career develops and the fairy tale ending would perhaps be one day returning to the Emirates Stadium.
