Max Dowman is one of the talking points among many at Arsenal this season and Premier League legend James Milner has piled more praise on the teenager.
Dowman’s explosive cameo off the bench a few weeks ago to guide Arsenal past Everton was one of the moments of the entire season at The Emirates.
Now, James Milner – man with over 650 Premier League appearances – believes Dowman has all the ability to get right to the top.
Rayan to Arsenal – yes or no?
James Milner says what impressed him about Max Dowman when he played against him
If anyone in the current game is in a position to judge a Premier League standard player then it’s James Milner.
Milner has come across them all during his career but he believes Dowman has the sort of flair and arrogance about him to go far in the game.
“He looks decent doesn’t he? Just how he carries the ball, his personality, facetiming Declan Rice and stuff like that,” Milner commented on the Rest is Football.

“You need to have a bit about you to do things like that, the best players have that sort of arrogance on the field.
“We played against them earlier in the year, just how he receives the ball, his touches, his confidence, a long way to go obviously, I hate piling pressure on people, but he looks a special player.”
Max Dowman can draw inspiration from James Milner
Milner is very much the gold standard for professionalism and prolonging a Premier League career.
Over the years, Milner has been at some of the biggest clubs in the land and has always been picked by whichever manager has been in charge.
As for being a teenage sensation, Dowman can look at Milner’s path and take some solace. Indeed, Milner had actually only made 29 PL appearances by the time he was 18.
That just shows that while Milner was an exciting new kid on the block, it’s important young players aren’t just thrust into every minute of every game.
Dowman will get minutes and starts under Mikel Arteta. But managing him and his workload is going to be crucial to ensure both Arsenal and England see the best version of him over his career.
