Arsenal will face Manchester City on Sunday in a highly-anticipated clash which could see either side lay down a statement about their title ambitions.
Arsenal are currently unbeaten in the league this season, and they will be coming up against a Man City side who lost to Wolves last week.
Both sides could be missing key players, with Bukayo Saka’s availability still uncertain, whilst Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne will be missing for the visitors.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has now picked who he thinks will win Sunday’s match.
Carragher backs Arsenal to win
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool defender claimed that home advantage, and Man City’s missing players, means that Arsenal are the more likely team to come away with all three points.
“I’m gonna go for Arsenal. I think Arsenal might just do it, just with home advantage and as I said, Rodri not playing,” he stated.
“He’s a huge player for Manchester City, so I’m just going to go with Arsenal, and that’ll hopefully give us a title race between now and the end of the season.”
Arsenal’s years of hurt
Arsenal’s record against Manchester City in recent years makes for grim reading.
The Gunners have scored just two goals in six games against City at the Emirates since they last earned a point in this fixture in 2017.
Both goals came from Saka, who could even miss out on a league match for the first time in nearly 90 games.
Mikel Arteta has never beaten Pep Guardiola in the Premier League, but City’s absences may give Arsenal some hope. If there was ever a time to end this bad run of results, it would be now, with two of their best midfielders and one of their best defenders in John Stones missing.
Whilst Arsenal could be without their two main wingers in Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, they could be set to welcome Thomas Partey back from injury, in what would be a major boost.
