Jamie Carragher predicts what definitely won’t happen to Arsenal in the Champions League final

Jamie Carragher can confidently say that Paris Saint-Germain will not thrash Arsenal in the Champions League final as they did to Inter Milan last season.

Last season’s final saw the French champions defeat Inter 5-0 at the Allianz Arena as Luis Enrique’s team demonstrated their brilliance.

Mikel Arteta’s team will now need to be at their very best on May 30 when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the European Cup final.

But despite PSG’s quality, Carragher does not believe that the Gunners will be comprehensively beaten by them in the final if they were to lose.

Jamie Carragher does not expect Arsenal to lose to PSG heavily

Jamie Carragher has dismissed suggestions that Paris Saint-Germain will thrash Arsenal in the Champions League final at the end of the month.

The defending European champions have one of the most feared attacks in Europe, but Arsenal have quite possibly the best defence.

When asked whether we could see a repeat of last season’s 5-0 Champions League final, Carragher told CBS Sports: “I think it’s too strong defensively, too well organised.

“I don’t ever see anybody taking Arsenal to the cleaners. They haven’t lost a game in the Champions League.

“I mean, what an achievement that is. You know, you get to the final without losing the game.”

As Carragher points out, Arsenal are undefeated in Europe this season, and it’s unlikely that they will suddenly lose heavily in the final.

Thierry Henry backs Arsenal’s defence

Thierry Henry is backing Arsenal’s defence to stop PSG, and he too believes that a heavy scoreline in the French team’s favour is unlikely.

“Look, anything can happen. We’ve seen it. We thought before, and I didn’t think that was going to happen, or you know, so Arsenal didn’t concede a lot of goals. It counts for something,” added Henry.

“As you said, Jamie, Arsenal haven’t lost in the Champions League, but you’re playing the champion, you know.

“So, I don’t want to jinx anything. I don’t want to talk too much about it. They have the experience of winning it.

“You don’t, but you’re going to have to at one point have that experience of winning it. I just hope it’s going to happen now.”
