Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has now told Arsenal what they must focus on in order to win the Premier League title this season.
Arsenal reignited their Premier league title bid with a 3-1 win over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
That victory took them to within two points of the Merseyside outfit, who currently sit at the top of the Premier League table.
However, both Arsenal and Liverpool will be painfully aware of the looming threat that Manchester City pose to their title aspirations.
The reigning champions are currently level on points with the Gunners, but Pep Guardiola’s side also hold a game in hand over both Arsenal and Liverpool. Manchester City are also in ominously good form, having won their last five top flight matches on the bounce.
Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions in five out of the last six seasons, and Mikel Arteta will know all about what a relentless winning machine that club is as he served as an assistant there prior to being given the top job at Arsenal.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville tipped Arsenal to win the title back at the start of this season. However, Manchester City must be considered the favourites given their astonishing track record.

What Arsenal must do to beat Manchester City and Liverpool to the title
Neville’s fellow Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher, has now told Arsenal and Liverpool what they must do if they are to upset the odds and finish this campaign at the top of the pile.
He said, “I think the only thing from Liverpool and Arsenal’s point of view is, there will be that little bit of nervousness and panic…but Arsenal and Liverpool have both got to play City. If you want to win the league, you’re going to have to beat City, and then the other teams that you play against, you’re probably going to be favourites.”
“I think it’s important for both those teams, and the players, staff, and supporters, not to get too downhearted with what Manchester City are doing. Forget City. When you play them, do the job, and just concentrate on your own game. Just try to drag it out as long as possible and who knows what can happen.”
Given the fact that they still have to play Manchester City, Arsenal can consider their destiny to essentially be in their own hands. They also know that they can beat Guardiola’s men, as they did so in their Premier League clash earlier this season. The Gunners produced a consummate performance to claim a statement 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium. Of course, they will face a tougher task on the road at the Etihad Stadium, but Arsenal can at least head into that fixture knowing that they have what it takes to win.
Of course, the Gunners also need to win their other matches too for their encounter with Manchester City to matter in the context of the title race at all. The Gunners will face the reigning champions on March 31st, but they cannot allow their focus to be drawn to that date yet. There are plenty of matches to be played between now and then and Arteta must ensure that his players’ entire attention is fixed solely upon each of those games as they come around.
