Arsenal are keen to extend Declan Rice’s contract at the club.

The England international joined the Gunners from West Ham United in a club-record deal in the summer of 2023, and he has been incredible for them since.

With his current deal expiring in 2028, Arsenal want to enter contract talks with Rice in the coming months to secure his future.

However, Joe Cole feels the North Londoners could have a problem.

Joe Cole thinks Arsenal could have a problem extending Declan Rice’s contract

It is very clear that Declan Rice is happy at Arsenal.

The midfielder always has a smile on his face, and his performances in the famous red and white have been fantastic.

However, like every other top player, Rice’s dream is to win the big trophies, and Arsenal are in contention to lift both the Premier League and the Champions League this term.

That is good news, but if Mikel Arteta’s men fall short again, Cole feels Rice and a few other players will start considering their futures at the club.

He said on TNT Sports: “This is Arsenal’s year. It has to be Arsenal’s year.

“Because I’ll tell you what will happen if Arsenal don’t win anything this year – and this ain’t me causing trouble – there are about three or four of their players who will be thinking this is never going to happen.

“Do you know what I mean? There’s Declan Rice up for a contract, you know? So they have to do it this year.”

Andrea Berta should know exactly what to do with Declan Rice’s Arsenal contract now

We are convinced that Arsenal’s success this season will have no bearing on Rice’s future at the club.

The Englishman is happy at the Emirates, is improving every week and has little reason to seek a move away from North London.

However, Arsenal cannot take a chance, which is why Andrea Berta should do everything in his power to wrap up a new deal for Rice before we even get to the business end of the season.

The same applies to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber, who are just as important as the former West Ham man.

Berta has already proven himself at Arsenal. We are sure he will do what it takes to keep the best players at the club as well.
