Jordan Henderson has showered Ajax teammate Jorrel Hato amid reports that Arsenal are interested in signing the teenager.

The 17-year-old defender has emerged as the Dutch giants latest wonderkid prospect from the academy, with Hato establishing himself as a regular at Ajax this season.

And according to reports, Arsenal are chasing Hato, with Henderson giving his seal of approval on the youngster having now played alongside the versatile centre-back for Ajax.

Henderson told Ajax’s official website when asked about Hato: “It’s crazy how young he is, but obviously how mature he looks when he’s on the pitch and also off the pitch.

“He’s a very mature person, works hard, fantastic player. And yeah, he has a bright future ahead of him, I’m sure. I think he just needs to continue to do what he’s he’s been doing.

“Obviously, it’s been working for him. I’ll try to help him and also the players if they ask for a little bit of advice off the field. If I can help them, I’m sure I’ll try and do that, of course.”

Arsenal are no strangers with doing business with Ajax, with the Gunners signing Jurrien Timber from the Dutch giants last summer in a deal that many supporters are excited about.

And after Henderson’s comments on Hato, fans could now start feeling the same way about the 17-year-old defender, who has clearly impressed the England international since moving to Amsterdam.

Indeed, whilst Hato could benefit with staying at Ajax for another year or two to continue his development, Arsenal must be putting plans into place to sign the defender.

As we know, a versatile centre-back would be welcome at Arsenal, and with Hato already making waves in the Netherlands at 17-years-old, who knows how good the defender can become if his development continues at its current pace.
