Josh Kroenke has explained that for Arsenal to win the Premier League title, they needed to experience the disappointment of finishing second.
Under Mikel Arteta, the club have had to be very patient, having gone through several years without delivering any silverware.
The Kroenkes have a history of backing young managers, having seen Sean McVay win their LA Rams team Super Bowl LVI back in 2022.
When asked about backing young coaches, Kroenke told The Overlap: “I assume you’re talking about Sean McVay at the Rams, and that was an easy comparison for us.
“Sean had been on our group out in LA for a few years, and we had seen what he had done culturally to try to reinvent that group.

“I think that gave us some confidence in that moment to really go after a guy like Mikel, but we also knew that this was going to be a multi-year process.
“So, if you bring somebody in, and that’s not to say that our goal wasn’t to win right away, but winning at the highest level to me is very much a process. Sometimes you have to experience a little bit of failure to get there.”
The Gunners will now be looking to add the Champions League to their league title with the final on Saturday in Budapest.
