Journalist James McNicholas has now claimed that it is an honour to see one player shining for Arsenal at the moment.

Bukayo Saka is a talismanic figure at Arsenal and for good reason.

The 22-year-old winger is a phenomenal talent. Gary Lineker has already admitted that Saka is one of his “favourite” players, and the Emirates Stadium faithful can all appreciate his stance on the attacker.

What the Hale End academy graduate has achieve in his short career so far is remarkable. Saka recently became the youngest Arsenal player since 1978 to achieve one personal milestone. The records keep being racked up by the player, who made his senior first-team debut in November 2018.

To date, Saka has racked up 213 appearances for the Gunners, across all competitions, and has scored 54 goals and laid on 53 assists in that time. Mikel Arteta is hugely dependent on the youngster, who starts virtually every single match for Arsenal.

The player is also an important figure to the club off the pitch. Arteta has already confirmed that Saka is part of the Arsenal leadership group.

He is an equally vital player at international level, too. Saka has 32 England caps to his name already, and has starred for the Three Lions at two major international tournaments, namely EURO 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. He is all but guaranteed to be a key figure in Gareth Southgate’s plans for this summer’s upcoming EURO 2024 competition.

What does Bukayo Saka mean to Arsenal?

Of course, Saka is a beloved figure at Arsenal. Supporters of the north London outfit will be hoping to see him playing, and impressing, in red and white for many years to come. He is also a talented enough player to fire the Gunners to some special achievements in his career.

James McNicholas has now tried to quantify just what Saka means to Arsenal. Speaking on the Handbrake Off podcast, the reporter said, “he’s flying at the moment, he really is. It’s such a privilege to be an Arsenal fan at this time, when we’ve got a player whose come through our own academy, whose performing at that level. Extraordinary, really. There must be such a depth of pride at Hale End about the player they’ve produced there, and the person they’ve produced.”

A number of Arsenal academy graduates have gone on to achieve great things with the club in the past. Saka is well on his way to joining the likes of David Rocastle, Michael Thomas, Tony Adams, Paul Merson, Ashley Cole, and Jack Wilshere, amongst many others, in that regard.
