Fenerbahce fans can’t wait to see Mesut Ozil in action following his move from Arsenal. The German leaves the Emirates after seven-and-a-half years as a Gunner, and his departure was the best thing for all parties involved.
Goodbye messages have been flowing in for Ozil on social media. Matteo Guendouzi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shkodran Mustafi have all had their say online, but another Arsenal player’s message to the German has caught Fenerbahce fans’ attention.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos took to Twitter to wish Ozil well for the future.
Sokratis, like Ozil, was left out of Arsenal’s Premier League and Europa League squads.
The Greek international, signed by Unai Emery in 2018, is expected to leave the Emirates this month. Sokratis has been linked with a whole host of club, and Fenerbahce are among those reportedly interested.
Fanatik claimed earlier this month that Sokratis had agreed personal terms with the Turkish giants. A move looked likely at that point, but nothing has materialised so far.

It is still very likely that Sokratis will leave us before the window shuts later this month. Fenerbahce are clearly an option, but the Greek defender reportedly has offers from bigger clubs in Europe.
That has stopped Fener fans from urging Sokratis to join them. They have flooded the defender’s tweet to Ozil with replies begging him to follow the German to Istanbul.
Here’s how a few of them reacted on Twitter
