Kai Havertz is one of the most criticised elite players in world football.

The Arsenal attacker was once a wonderkid in Germany and was viewed by many in his home country as a superstar in the making.

However, since moving to the Premier League, his reputation has not been the same, mainly due to his struggles at Chelsea and early on at Arsenal.

That has led to a lot of criticism, and Havertz has now had his say on those people.

Kai Havertz reacts to some Germany fans calling him ‘useless’

There are many reasons why Kai Havertz is absolutely incredible.

The biggest one has to be that every top manager he has worked under – Thomas Tuchel, Mikel Arteta and Julian Nagelsmann – has rated him very, very highly.

Yet, casual football fans have always had something to say about Havertz – it’s never anything positive, even if he plays well.

The German has now come to terms with such a critique, and he feels he knows the reason behind it – because he doesn’t play for a club in his home country anymore.

Havertz told The Guardian: “Probably because I don’t play in the Bundesliga.

“It was the same at times with Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gündogan, who were abroad for years.

“It is often said about me: ‘Havertz didn’t score again, he’s useless!’. And when I do score, they say: “Well, he’s supposed to, it’s about time!”

“I don’t hold it against anyone; that’s perfectly normal.”

Kai Havertz is one of Germany and Arsenal’s most important players

People will continue to have an opinion on Havertz for as long as he is at the top level, but that won’t matter to him or his coaches.

The Germany international has been incredible for a long time now, and the fact that his managers for club and country continue to pick him every game proves that.

It is great to hear Havertz finally open up about his critics. What’s even better is the fact that he isn’t letting any of that bother him.

That shows serious growth and maturity, and we expect him to be even better because of that going forward.
