Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has been recognised for his exceptional work outside of football.
Beyond what goes on on the pitch, Arsenal are a pillar of the local community in North London, and also have global commitments when it comes to giving support and charitable aid.
For instance, The Arsenal Foundation is a project that the club have used to support good causes both locally and around the world. This has included the building of pitches and facilities for children in camps for those who have been displaced by war, in Iraq, Indonesia, Somalia, and Jordan.
On an individual basis, many Arsenal players have involved themselves in charitable work too, be it via The Arsenal Foundation or outside of the club.
Kai Havertz has proven his commitment to helping others. For that, as announced by the club’s official X account, the German has been handed a Community Champion award by the PFA.
As per the PFA’s website, a Community Champion award is given to: “Players who have made their work with communities and good causes central to their role as a professional footballer.”

Havertz has his own charitable organisation. A quote from the player on its website reads: “With my charity, I want to move from Me to We. Because together we can do more, change more and achieve more.”
Havertz’s charity is committed to improving the lives of people and animals, and has worked with a donkey sanctuary, on a project to provide breakfasts for children, and with a Catholic welfare organisation that seeks to provide support and social justice for people worldwide, amongst numerous other worthy causes.
Havertz clearly has his passions away from the pitch, and his ability to make a difference is boosted by his profile and success as an Arsenal player. His efforts via his own charity will have played a significant part in him receiving this PFA Community Champion award.
What Arsenal need from Havertz this season
Returning to matters on the pitch, Mikel Arteta will be expecting big things from the former Chelsea man this season. After he settled at the Emirates Stadium and impressed in the second half of last season, he now needs to show that he can be consistent for the Gunners.
Havertz recently dazzled against Bayer Leverkusen, his former club, in a pre-season friendly. This suggests that he is ready to hit the ground running in the new campaign.
Meanwhile, Arteta has hinted that Havertz could play in midfield for Arsenal at times this season. It will be fascinating to see how he adapts to that task, having struggled to do so in the past.
