Kepa Arrizabalaga is officially an Arsenal player.

The Spain international was on Chelsea’s books for seven years, but it was clear that he had no future there. After spending each of the last two seasons on loan, he was expected to move.

The Gunners announced Kepa’s arrival on Tuesday, and the goalkeeper will start the 2025/26 season as a backup to David Raya.

Arsenal fans know all about Kepa’s ability on the pitch, having played against him over the years. However, the Spaniard possesses a rare skill that not many people know about.

New Arsenal signing Kepa Arrizabalaga has a rare hidden talent

Many footballers have secret talents away from the pitch.

Some are good at other sports, while others can speak multiple languages. A few are great singers and dancers too, and often show off their skills.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, however, possesses a hidden talent that may surprise a lot of people.

The new Arsenal signing has ‘the ability to make birds sing’, and he has had this skill since he was a kid back home in Spain.

Arsenal’s official website writes: “Along with his father, Kepa used to keep goldfinches and teach them how to sing.

“So good was his ability, he won regional bird singing competitions. In 2008 and 2010, he was named the Songbirds Champion of Vizcaya.”

Speaking after one of his award wins, Kepa said: “I train the birds whenever I can, between training and studies.”

One former Arsenal star called himself the ‘bird catcher’

Kepa would’ve been good friends with former Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Englishman spent many years as a Gunner, and in one of the club’s pre-season tours, he got to spend some time with a few birds.

Maitland-Niles was filmed feeding a bird at the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, and he named himself ‘the bird catcher’.

“Do you know what they call me? They call me the bird catcher. I catch birds,” he can be heard saying.
