Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal club captain Martin Odegaard once again produced a superlative display, as the Gunners coasted to a 4-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Odegaard got on the scoresheet against the Cherries, coolly dispatching a first half penalty. After the break, the 24-year-old won another penalty for his side, before delivering a perfect cross to assist Ben White’s late goal.
The £30 million attacking midfielder is a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s side. He is at the heart of the way the team build up their attacks and tactically seek to press and defend from the front. If Arsenal are to achieve their aims for this season, it is vital that Odegaard stays fit and in form.
Despite his obvious quality, Kevin Campbell still feels that Odegaard is underrated. Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, he said, “We’ve been saying it for a while now. This kid is special. He’s our captain and the things he can do on the ball, the vision he has, the way he lends the ball, he gives and gets it back. He can change direction of attack, he’s just such a clever player. I don’t think he gets the props he deserves…but this lad is extra special.”

Odegaard is Arsenal’s potential superstar
If Arsenal are to pull off a positive result against Manchester City in their Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, then Odegaard will need to be at his best.
The 53-cap Norway international has the quality required to unlock the Manchester City defence, he will also be responsible for leading the Arsenal press. If the Gunners get that aspect of their game wrong then they will be punished by Pep Guardiola’s side.
In Odegaard, Arsenal have a potential superstar, and Arteta deserves credit for the manner in which he has gradually improved and coaxed the best out of the player since his permanent arrival at the north London club in 2021.
The club recently awarded Odegaard with a new long-term contract, and fans will be looking forward to seeing him light up the Emirates Stadium for years to come. He is a player with the potential to be at the heart of a new era of success at the club.
