After Bournemouth sacked Scott Parker today, Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Liverpool and Arsenal are among very few clubs in the Premier League that ‘have a structure’ thanks to their respective owners.

The Cherries suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday. Even though it wasn’t really Parker’s fault, the Bournemouth boss was sacked today by club owner Maxim Demin. Klopp, like many of us, believes that the decision was ‘harsh’.

After starting off with a win on the opening day, Bournemouth suffered three defeats in a row – against Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Parker admitted after the game on Saturday that he was “not surprised” by the result and claimed that his players need help to compete with the best teams in the country.

Fast-forward three days, Bournemouth’s owner decided to show him the door, and Klopp has now questioned the ‘structure’ at the Cherries, before suggesting that only Liverpool and ‘maybe Arsenal’ are clubs with any structure, thanks to the owners.

Klopp said, as per ESPN: “When I heard [the Scott Parker news] today I realised how important it is in this moment to have the right owners at the football club.

“Some clubs are owned by countries but others have a structure like us and maybe Arsenal. Then three teams who came up, Nottingham are spending, Fulham are and I can’t remember Bournemouth doing a lot, which is difficult for a coach. I felt for Scott.

“In the first four games they had Arsenal, City and Liverpool — it’s set up for a new manager if you have nervous owners.”

The Insider’s View:

If Arsenal had ‘nervous owners,’ Mikel Arteta would’ve probably suffered the same fate as Parker this time last year.

Exactly 12 months ago, the Gunners were at the bottom of the league table after losing the first three games. We suffered defeats against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City, and many fans wanted Arteta gone.

However, the Kroenkes kept their faith in the Spaniard, and look where we are now – at the very top of the league table.

Sacking managers has become a common thing to do for clubs and owners these days – maybe they should take a leaf out of Arsenal and Liverpool’s books, who kept their faith in Arteta and Klopp even when things weren’t great.
