Kyle Walker is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the history of the Premier League.

The England international has won numerous Premier League titles, and, at his best, he was unbeatable.

Kyle Walker has been a consistent thorn in Arsenal’s side over the years, whether he was starring for Tottenham or pipping Mikel Arteta to league titles for Manchester City.

Now, Walker has joined Burnley, and speaking to the club’s TikTok page, he’s been ranking and rating some of the best defenders in English football history.

Interestingly, during this challenge, Walker made a claim about a former Arsenal player that may intrigue supporters.

Walker was asked to rank some of the best English defenders of the modern era.

The Burnley star made an interesting claim here that relates to two former Arsenal players.

Sol Campbell is a true Arsenal great, but he ended up bottom of Walker’s list, while the right-back picked Ashley Cole second on his list.

Of course, there may be a number of reasons for this.

Walker has an affinity to Tottenham, so praising Sol Campbell is a cardinal sin, while as a full-back, he likely has a natural appreciation for Ashley Cole, alongside the fact Walker is Cole’s former teammate at international level having played together four times for England.

Campbell and Cole are both greats of the game, and regardless of who you think was the better player, it has to be said that both were incredible defenders.

Arsenal were at their absolute best when both Cole and Campbell were in the team, both men were key cogs of the Invincibles season back in 2003/04.

Cole and Campbell’s stats when playing together certainly make for interesting reading.

Of course, Arsenal fans turned on Cole after he left to join Chelsea for just £5m back in 2006, but at his best, Cole was one of the best defenders Arsenal ever had.

Arsenal have been blessed with amazing defensive players over the years, and Cole may well be the best of the bunch.
