Many Arsenal players have flown out to join their national teams for the upcoming international games.
The international break is always annoying for fans, especially after just three games into the new season. What makes it worse is if your team failed to win their last game.
That’s the position Arsenal supporters are in right now after the draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, but there is something to cheer about.
One Arsenal player lifted an award he received on Tuesday and earned applause from everyone around him, including Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe.
Arsenal star William Saliba wins an award for his Euro 2024 heroics
William Saliba is one of the best defenders in the world.
The Frenchman, branded as ‘sensational‘ by Declan Rice, has been unbelievable for Arsenal since making his competitive debut in August 2022. He is one of the biggest reasons why the Gunners have challenged for the Premier League title.
Saliba also became a mainstay in France’s defence during Euro 2024 in Germany this summer. He started every single game for Les Bleus.
All eyes were on what Mbappe would do in the tournament, but the Real Madrid man wasn’t at his usual best at all in Germany.
Saliba, however, was absolutely outstanding, and he was rightly named in the Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament, for which he received an award.
On Tuesday, when he joined up with the France national team, Saliba was presented with his trophy in front of all his teammates, including Mbappe.
The former PSG star and everyone else in the room applauded Saliba as he delivered a speech after he lifted the award.
“Thank you all for this trophy,” Saliba began.
“It’s thanks to you that I’m surrounded by great players. It’s thanks to your advice. So there you go, thank you to the staff too and I hope that we will win collective ones next time. We are together!”

Edu has a Saliba problem that should be addressed immediately
Saliba is destined for greatness and Arsenal fans are all hoping he will stay at the Emirates for the rest of his career.
However, there is every chance massive clubs, like Mbappe’s Real Madrid, will express an interest in the Frenchman in 2025, when he will enter the final two years of his contract.
That is a big problem for Arsenal, and we think Edu Gaspar has to get Saliba and his agents in a room to sort out a new deal that will secure his future.
The sooner this is done, the better it is as the last thing Arsenal and Mikel Arteta need is uncertainty over the future of one of the club’s most important players.
