Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League, courtesy of a 55th-minute strike from Declan Rice from the edge of the box.
The result saw the Gunners secure Champions League qualification for next season, while they can seal a place in the top two by avoiding defeat against Southampton on Sunday.
With that said, here’s a look at the latest news ahead of another big day.
Jurrien Timber to undergo ankle surgery
Arsenal have been dealt yet another injury blow in a season plagued by persistent fitness issues.
Jurrien Timber has missed the Gunners’ last two matches and will miss the final game of the season against Southampton, as he’s set to undergo surgery on his ankle.
The Dutchman has been nursing the injury in recent weeks, and medical staff at London Colney have made the decision to operate on the player before next season starts.

There is no yet a confirmed return date for Timber.

Bryan Mbeumo is on Arsenal’s transfer radar
Bryan Mbeumo is enjoying a fine season for Brentford, having netted 19 Premier League goals, which has subsequently sparked interest in him from a host of clubs.
Arsenal are among those who admire Mbeumo, although contrary to some reports, Arsenal Insider understands that the Cameroonian isn’t near the top of the Gunners’ list.
There are question marks over how the right-winger would co-exist with Bukayo Saka in the same squad.

However, with Andrea Berta eager not to put all his eggs in one basket regarding Nico Williams, a potential move cannot be ruled out.

Arsenal doctors surprised by Kai Havertz’s return
Kai Havertz finally returned to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines against Newcastle on Sunday.
The German was introduced as a 76th-minute substitute against the Magpies and received a warm reception from the Emirates crowd.
Speaking to the media after the game, Mikel Arteta revealed that the club doctors were surprised by the speed at which Havertz was able to recover and be ready to play following his hamstring surgery.

“Kai, I mean, he’s been incredibly fast in his recovery,” he said.
“I think the doctors were a bit, is it too early? But he’s been pushing it, and he thought he could help the team.”
