Leandro Trossard has named Takehiro Tomiyasu as the toughest Arsenal teammate to face whilst in training.

The Japanese international has been incredible for the Gunners this season having reclaimed his place as one of Mikel Arteta’s first names on the teamsheet when available for selection.

Although injuries again have affected Tomiyasu’s playing time, the versatile defender has shown why he is one of the most underrated fullbacks in all of the Premier League.

And speaking to Footy Culture, Trossard has now named Tomiyasu as the hardest player to face when in training, beating the likes of Willian Saliba and Declan Rice.

Able to play both left-back and right-back, Tomiyasu has seen his game hit new levels this season, with the former Bologna star one of the most beloved figures at the Emirates Stadium.

With the defender showcasing arguably his best form this season, it’s perhaps no real surprise that Trossard has picked Tomiyasu as the toughest player to face in training.

And for Arsenal, the 25-year-old Japanese international can play a massive part in guiding the Gunners to silverware in the Premier League or in in Europe via the UEFA Champions League.

It’s felt like an eternity since Tomiyasu last played for Arsenal with the defender starting the year off injured before heading to the Asian Cup with Japan.

Yet Trossard will be pleased that the fullback is soon back, with the former Serie A star a player who could play a big part in the final three months of the season for Arsenal.

The Japanese international is regarded as one of the most consistent players for the Gunners and a player who can be a real asset for Arsenal in big matches, and Tomiyasu will be keen to return sooner rather than later.
