Kyle Walker has now sent Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool a clear warning over the 2023/24 Premier League title race as Manchester City chase an historic four in a row.

No club has ever lifted the Premier League title in four consecutive seasons to date. But Pep Guardiola’s side trail their title rivals after 16 matches this season. Liverpool hold a marginal lead on Arsenal atop the table, with Aston Villa and Manchester City also hot on their heels.

Only four points currently cover the top four teams with Liverpool claiming 37 of a potential 48 and Manchester City taking 33. The Reds, Arsenal and Aston Villa have all won 11 of their games to date, as well. Only Manchester City with 10 also boast a double-digit haul for wins.

Should Manchester City overcome their slender deficit, Guardiola’s team would become the first club to win the Premier League title in four straight seasons. They matched Manchester United’s previous record of three in a row last season after City pipped Arsenal to the crown.

The Red Devils had sealed three titles in a row twice (1998-2001, 2006-09). But Arsenal and Chelsea denied Manchester United a quadruple. Mikel Arteta will now be desperate to deny Manchester City a quadruple as Arsenal target their first Premier League title since 2003/04.

Arsenal fell short in their hunt for silverware last season, despite spending 248 days atop the Premier League table. A late-season collapse with three wins in their final nine games let the Citizens lift their latest title with three games to play having overcome an eight-point deficit.

Now, Walker – who had a furious touchline spat with Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover after losing 1-0 at Emirates Stadium in October – has warned his team’s title rivals that what Manchester City have learnt in the last few years should see them win a fourth title in a row.

“Listen, I think the league this season is probably a lot more open than it has been in recent years,” Walker told talkSPORT. “But I think if we do what we need to do and do what we can do over recent years, we’ll be well [set to win the title].”
