Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is always in the news for one reason or another.

The Englishman is among the best players in world football. He has been absolutely amazing for club and country over the years and the fact that he is still only 23 means he will get even better.

Apart from being a key player for Arsenal, Saka is always one of the first names on the team sheet for England. People always compare him to other players, but he has remained an undisputed starter.

Yet, some people make ludicrous claims about him. Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, who is currently on loan at Ipswich Town, is the latest.

Kalvin Phillips says Arsenal star Bukayo Saka will ‘hate’ him after controversial opinion

Saka’s consistency over the years has been sensational.

The Englishman’s output has increased season after season, and his performances for both club and country prove that he is truly world-class.

However, there are people with very short memories who try to compare anyone who has had a good game to Saka – yes, we’re talking about a few fans of rival clubs.

What’s worse now is that Phillips, an England international, has jumped on the bandwagon and made what we think is a truly ridiculous claim.

In a video on Sky Sports, Phillips was asked to rank Saka, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden. The Manchester City-owned midfielder placed the Arsenal star third.

He said: “I’m going to go with Phil [Foden] at number one. I’d heard about him before when he played for City, and the season that he had last year…

“I’ve gone with Cole Palmer at two, because, very similar to Phil, I trained with him a lot at City and seeing him get that chance at Chelsea and taking it by the scruff of the neck…”

Then, after ranking Saka below Foden and Palmer, Phillips said: “He’s going to hate me for this as well.

“Bukayo has probably been the most consistent, I’d say, out of these over the years. Hopefully, this year, he can show again that consistency and have a really good season.”

Saka is better than both Palmer and Foden – here’s why

The definition of a world-class player is someone who can deliver for club and country consistently irrespective of form, players around him, system and the context of games.

Saka has been magnificent for both Arsenal and England for several years now – much better than Foden and Palmer.

Yes, the other two are excellent players as well. Foden had an amazing season for Manchester City in 2023/24, but he was absolutely shocking at the Euros. He has scored just four goals for England in 41 games, which is an awful return for an attacker.

Palmer had a great season at Chelsea as well, but nine of the 25 goals he scored for the Blues last season came from the penalty spot. He was barely used in the Euros too – Saka was preferred to him.

The media and rival fans love to compare the likes of Foden and Palmer to Saka, but when you make an unbiased judgement, the Arsenal man is the clear winner.
