Marc Bola signed a professional contract with the club in April 2016 after impressing the club as an academy scholar. He has been at the club for 5 years.
Bola is yet to play a competitive game for the first team although he has appeared on the bench in League Cup games against Reading and Southampton.
He has recently been loaned out to League Two side Notts County. During his loan spell so far he has impressed and has made the left back position his own.
For Bola, he has taken the loan move in his stride. He already feels he has improved as a player and has helped with his development for when he returns to Arsenal. The 19-year old says he has turned into a man after being transformed, having played academy football at Arsenal.
The experience the youngster is getting is invaluable at his age and for Bola to embrace the move like he has will stand him in good stead in the future.
So far this season he has turned out some excellent performances for Notts County. He has played ten times for the League two club so far this season and has one assist to his name after some excellent work on the left, skipping past two players before crossing into the box for the ball to be slotted home.
As a player who started off as a striker, he initially played in various positions for Arsenal before finding his position at left back.
What Bola possesses is plenty of pace. He is extremely quick in the left back role and has good positional sense, but with the ability to push forward and attack.
At 6’1 he is a commanding player who is physically strong and imposing and able to put in a tackle. The youngster is also able to play centre back all though you feel with his technical ability that he would be wasted in that position.
It seems Bola has the potential to break through into the first team in a few seasons time if he continues to progress and impress. He certainly has the right attitude and is enjoying his loan spell.
Perhaps another loan next season, this time in the Championship would be a good indication of how far Bola could go as a player.
Marc Bola is definitely one for the Arsenal fans to look out for.
