Mark Clattenburg has told Arsenal Insider exclusively that there are no issues with Anthony Taylor being appointed as the referee for Man City against Arsenal, despite strong complaints from supporters.
The Gunners’ supporters are unhappy with Taylor’s appointment, given the fact that he is from the Manchester area.

Taylor has taken charge of 58 Arsenal matches, of which the Gunners have won 32 and lost just eight, with three red cards issued.
But despite their strong record under the 47-year-old, Arsenal fans still have an issue with his appointment for the huge game against City this weekend.

Mark Clattenburg believes Arsenal against Man City should have one of the best referees, and the PGMOL have done that by appointing Anthony Taylor.
The former Premier League official has dismissed supporters’ concerns over Taylor refereeing a Manchester City game, given his links to the area.
Taylor lives in Wythenshawe, Manchester, but is an Altrincham fan; therefore, Clattenburg has told fans to stop complaining.
Speaking exclusively to Arsenal Insider, Clattenburg said: “As always, surrounding Anthony Taylor’s appointment involving Manchester clubs, supporters are up in arms about the appointment when Manchester City will play a potential deciding match against Arsenal this weekend.
“This match needs the very best match official, and the best two referees in the Premier League at the moment are Anthony Taylor and Michael Oliver.

“Taylor resides in Wythenshawe and is an Altrincham supporter and has refereed many times Manchester clubs without issue, and I do not see any issue around this appointment.
“Supporters are always looking to complain, and PGMOL have done their best by appointing one of the best referees who, by the way, will represent English referees at the forthcoming World Cup.”
As mentioned, Arsenal have a strong record when officiated by Taylor, and supporters should have no worries about him being the referee.
